What Is the Canada Carbon Rebate?
The Canada Carbon Rebate, previously known as the Climate Action Incentive Payment (CAIP), is a tax-free quarterly payment designed to cushion the financial impact of federal pollution pricing.
The initiative is part of the Canadian government’s broader strategy to combat climate change while ensuring families and individuals are supported amid rising energy costs.
The rebate includes a base payment for all eligible residents and an additional 20% rural supplement for those living in rural or small communities.
This supplement acknowledges the higher energy costs often faced by residents in less urbanized areas.
